SAINT OTTO- PATRON SAINT OF PARKING

- A friend sent me a birthday card naming Saint Otto:" patron of parking".
While, in my religion there are no saints, this honor I shall be marking.
There is no doubt : in today's world it takes a saint to help find a space,
blessed be he who can help you to park in a close -by, big enough place.

When I started driving, about sixty years ago, there was no such dearth.
Now, to put your car away is really an undertaking of much worth.
It takes money and patience to put your car in the proper spot,
if you are privileged to call such a thing your own-it means a lot.

May it be known that for most of my life I walked to work daily-
in those days I was able to save nickels and dimes very gaily.
One of the perks of now being in a retirement home, everything is near,
even should you have official business you can walk, it is clear.

To be a patron saint is clear is surely a miracle and an exalted position,
an honor which heretofore was beyond anyone's vision.
Now you can pray to Saint Otto, he will put you at ease :
when you need parking desperately- just call him "pretty please" .
