I have been asked by my wonderful mail lady to write a poem about them, especially on the holidays.
Here it is, I always aim to oblige.
It is called : The postal heroes and heroines
No matter what the weather the U.S. mail must go through !
be it in the summer's heat or when their noses turn blue.
It is a known fact that in some states they face snow and ice-
to deliver in winter so often is not what you'd call "ever so nice ".
These deliverers are honor-bound the gifts to deliver-
when Christmas time comes, some are bound to shiver.
The presents have to arrive in time, be it East or West :
yes, there are those bringers of joy, doing their very best.
Now take California where the climate is usually mild-
these Santa Claus helpers efficiently please many a child.
They don't need parkas or fur hats, often brave the hot sun,
to just make sure that the right gift arrives in time for everyone.
Thus we are obliged to these heroes and heroines of delivery,
without them holidays would be much devoid of festive "givery".
They are those who make the season so full of glee and pleasure-
Yes, the U.S. MAIL purveyors must be considered a great treasure !
