Let it ring !

Sorry to report that this blessed instrument is now mostly quiet.
Whereas when you owned a store it's use was a steady diet.
Furthermore there were relatives and friends ready for a call,
but-as time progressed you wonder what happened to them all.

Outside of a nightly jingle to your so dear far away offspring,
you are condemned to wait for that darn thing to please give a ring.
Blessedly, the broker gives you a call once in a while,
there is now not much sense to keep other numbers on file.

What's worse, if someone calls, your ears you have to stress,
the hearing is such that you understand each time much less.
So, try to avoid this mode of conversation as much as you can,
it would be much better now to correspond just man to man.

Yet you are well off to rely on it if there is a pressing need,
there is a special phone by your bed to call help,yes indeed.
Daily you push a button on it to show that you are sound-
yes,it carries an important message:You are still around !
