Never one given to eat out much, I now mostly dine "in".
Prone to think about what my past meals have been.
As a child we had a fine lady-cook to prepare all meals,
the memory of her culinary talents still much appeals.
Then came a time when , in a new country, I was the "cook"-
to buy stuff in cans and tins that's what it now often took.
A lone bachelor who did not care about gourmet food,
lunch in the "Automat" often did put me in a good mood.
Then this lucky guy married a gal, a certified dietitian,
who knew all about calories and fat, healthy food was her mission.
Thus we, and our dear child, were well nourished and ate "good",
she knew how to count calories that was well understood.
When she had to leave us and I was, once again, eating alone-
to soups and salads and sandwiches my meals were prone.
Now, my dearest daughter prepares fine food for this old fox:
once again he is so lucky to have his good meals in a paper box !
